iOnTheSky AutoGAAG is a new system that streamlines posting aurora sighting reports into the Global Aurora Alerts Group on Facebook.

This is intended as a quick and easy solution to the problems associated with real-time aurora reporting (the fact that it takes quite a while to open the Facebook app, load GAAG, post your alert, and by which time, your night vision has been ruined).

AutoGAAG minimises the time you need to look at your phone screen.

We are also integrating AutoGAAG into the iOnTheSky app, due to be released at some point in the near future.

IMPORTANT TERMS OF USE:

AutoGAAG will do the following:
-Ask for your name (so we can credit the photo/aurora report to you)
-Ask for a photo (to upload to the Global Aurora Alerts Group on Facebook)
-Ask you what you can see in the photo.
-Detect and record your location (at the suburb-level only; we do not record the exact coordinates or street address).
-The photo, your name, location, and what you report as being visible will be sent to an iOnTheSky database, where it will be entered into an archive and will be used to improve the iOnTheSky system and aurora forecasting accuracy.
-Your photograph may also be used to improve the iOnTheSky system and/or make new features possible.
-You agree that any improvements to the iOnTheSky system and any resulting features or datasets will remain the intellectual property of David Hunter/Hunter Geophysics/iOnTheSky. Your photo will, of course, remain your own intellectual property.
-The photo, your name, the suburb you're in, and what you have specified is visible in the photo will then be uploaded to the Global Aurora Alerts Group on Facebook under David Hunter's Facebook account (sorry, it's not easy to get it to work with your own Facebook account... we're hoping to be able to do this soon in the iOnTheSky app but this is a temporary workaround).

Note: your images will not be published anywhere except to the Global Aurora Alerts Group on Facebook. We never receive your exact address/location, either. You also agree to the Hunter Geophysics privacy policy, which can be found here: https://www.huntergeophysics.com/privacy-policy/
