About

Hunter Geophysics was founded in 2009 by David Hunter (who has since been nicknamed “Dave the grave Hunter”). Hunter Geophysics was Australia’s first archaeological geophysics consultancy.

Our first commercial geophysical survey was surveying a cemetery in Canberra, searching for unmarked graves using ground-penetrating radar and and electromagnetic induction.

Hunter Geophysics provides geophysical and mapping (GIS) services to archaeologists and cemeteries. We also sell GPR-SLICE software and provide training in the use of ground-penetrating radar equipment.

Our Australian Business Number (ABN) is 60 914 102 693.

We work both Australia-wide and internationally and, with access to the most modern tools of the trade, we’ll work to get you the best possible solution.

Hunter Geophysics adheres to the survey standards established by English Heritage and collaborates with the International Society for Archaeological Prospection in constantly improving best practice. We abide by all relevant legislation, especially the various Heritage Acts, and report our work to government where required by such.

We also regularly engage in innovative research in order to reduce future survey costs.

We stand by the quality of our service. We regularly inspect and minimise the influence of sources of interference, such as solar and terrestrial weather. These checks may sound pedantic, but we want to provide the best possible data.

We hold all relevant insurance policies.
