Hunter Geophysics provides geophysical and GIS (mapping) services to archaeologists, cemeteries, builders, farmers/vineyards and property developers. Hunter Geophysics also advises and collaborates with archaeologists who may be involved in heritage impact assessments, archaeological 'due diligence' surveys and cultural or complex heritage management plans (CHMPs).
Our Australian Business Number (ABN) is 60 914 102 693.
Our staff comprise archaeologists, geophysicists, historians, soil chemists, GIS specialists and computer programmers.
We work both Australia-wide and internationally and, with access to the most modern tools of the trade, we'll work to get you the best possible solution.
Founded by David Hunter, Hunter Geophysics staff are members of numerous academic associations, including:
- the Australian Archaeological Association,
- the Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology,
- the International Society for Archaeological Prospection,
- the Institute for Archaeologists, and
- the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
Hunter Geophysics adheres to the survey standards established by English Heritage and collaborates with the International Society for Archaeological Prospection in constantly improving best practice. We abide by all relevant legislation, especially the various Heritage Acts, and report our work to government where required by such. We are aware of quarantine issues that affect the agricultural industry, such as phylloxera, and take steps to eliminate these pests from our equipment.
We also regularly engage in innovative research in order to reduce future survey costs.
We stand by the quality of our service. We regularly inspect and minimise the influence of sources of interference, such as solar and terrestrial weather. These checks may sound pedantic, but we want to provide the best possible data.
We hold all relevant insurance policies.
